mEET SUNIL

Sunil Malhotra grew up in the suburb of Skokie after crash landing in Chicago, Illinois, at the age of six months from New Delhi, India. At least that’s the official story. Influenced by his father’s penchant for spinning a yarn and his mother’s love of the arts, Sunil was initially drawn to music – playing the trombone (jazz), the guitar (fronting a punk band), and DJing at a radio station. But his passion for movies, storytelling, and performance led to a fateful dare to audition for a play in Sunil’s first year of college. Performing in an adaptation of 12 Angry Men, Sunil was bitten by the bug, turning the tides from music and a passion for justice and criminal law to a career in front of the camera and behind the mic. Graduating Cum Laude from Indiana University’s prestigious Theatre & Drama program, Sunil moved to New York City to pursue his career as an actor. There, he met fellow South Asian actors and filmmakers with whom he made groundbreaking films and theatre, and he met the woman of his dreams (who also happened to be from the north side of Chicago!).
